As a new feature on No Man’s Blog, I’ve included my Air Force ribbon rack at the top of the blog post column. It is, in military terms, a basic summation of my 20 years in the United States Air Force. Each colorful rectangular chicklet represents one of the medals, awards, or other ribbons I earned during my time in service. I’m very proud of them. You can go here to see the Web site I used to create the graphic. It’s quite a nifty little gadget.
Left to right from the top, these ribbons represent:
- Defense Meritorious Service Medal
- Meritorious Service Medal
- Joint Service Commendation Medal
- Joint Service Achievement Medal with one device
- Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two devices
- Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five devices
- National Defense Service Medal
- Air Force Overseas Short Tour ribbon with four devices
- Air Force Overseas Long Tour ribbon with one device
- Air Force Longevity Service Award with three devices
- Air Force NCO Professional Military Education Graduate ribbon with one device
- Air Force Basic Military Training Honor Graduate ribbon
- Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon (rifle)
- Air Force Training ribbon
The information is accurate and comes directly from my DD Form 214 (certificate of release or discharge from active duty).

How did you get the oak leaf on your JSAM? The site doesn’t seem to allow for it on any joint awards
Hell, Jim! It’s on my DD214, and I have the paperwork for it. So I took the initiative and used Photoshop to make the fix.
I can’t help it if the guy who made that site was too short sited to realize that some people might have multiple joint awards.
It kind of pissed me off, too.
And it’s great to hear from you! Check Red’s Skivvy Nine list and send me an e-mail!
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you

Ummmm. What’s to agree or disagree with? What’s your point?
