Without further ado, let’s move on to the story of Karen Aerts, a Belgian woman who loved animals.  Ms. Aerts loved animals so much that she was a regular visitor to the Olmense Zoo in Antwerp, where she signed up with the “adopt-a-pet” program.  (Fox News.)  Aerts’ favorite animal at the zoo was a cheetah named Bongo, and she purchased the fuzzy feline’s food under the auspices of the animal “adoption” program.

So enamored was Aerts of Bongo, that one night she hid herself away at the zoo while the staff was closing down the facility.  When the coast was clear, Aerts managed to find the keys to the cheetah cage and set out to visit Bongo and his cage mate(s).  (Sorry, I don’t know how many cheetahs were in the cage with Bongo.)

Needless to say, the cheetahs mauled Ms. Aerts to a bloody pulp.  Until she was dead!

Fox quotes Olmense Zoo spokesman Jan Libot:

Karen loved animals. Unfortunately the cheetahs betrayed her trust.

Duh…. 

Of course, an animal rights group calling itself the GIAA has called for the “immediate closure of the zoo” because it’s “unsafe for both visitors and the cats.”  (The big dummies.)

Finally, according to Fox, the Antwerp police have ruled out foul play.  Well, hell!  Bongo and his buddies were only looking for a little dinner….

Something’s definitely wrong with a person who doesn’t know better than to stay out of a cheetah cage.
