Staff Sergeant No More

Senior Airman Michelle Manhart used to be Staff Sergeant Manhart.  And she used to be on extended active duty with the United States Air Force.  Neither of those things is true anymore because SrA Manhart took it upon herself to pose nude in the February (2007) issue of Playboy Magazine.

Manhart claims that the demotion and the change in duty status came as a result of the fact that she is depicted in the magazine in her Air Force uniform performing her duties as an Air Force training instructor.  Says Manhart, the photos of her in uniform appeared in the same Playboy spread in which she posed nude.

Manhart originally served with the Iowa Air National Guard before transferring to extended active duty status with the Air Force.  She now claims that her status is currently “unclear.”  Says the Associated Press:

Manhart offered The AP a copy of a signed ‘request and authorization for separation’ form that indicates her ‘character of service’ was ‘honorable.’ It is not clear whether the form is an official discharge order.
[…]
Oscar Balladares, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, confirmed that Manhart was removed from extended active duty on Friday, but he said Lackland did not discharge her.
[…]
‘She was not discharged but she was removed from active duty status, and thus reverted to National Guard status,’ Balladares said. ‘It is not up to the Air Force — it is not our jurisdiction to discharge her.’

The senior airman claims to be disappointed with “our system” and believes “they went too far with it.”

I really don’t understand what’s so “unclear” to Senior Airman Bimbo about her status.  It’s exceedingly obvious that the United States Air Force took exception with her decision to pose nude for Playboy while openly flaunting her association with the service.  That she chose to display images of the Air Force—notably the uniform and insignia she wore at the beginning of that article—might very well be interpreted as “bringing discredit” upon the Air Force.  So the Air Force took the reasonable measure of getting rid of her by sending her back to the Iowa Air National Guard.  She came from Iowa; Iowa can dispose of her now.  As Iowa sees fit.  Good riddance.

Bimbo Manhart

According to the AP description of the “request and authorization for separation” form given above, it appears that the active duty Air Force was even kind enough to characterize her service as having been “honorable.”  In that respect the Air Bimbo is lucky, in my opinion.  Even civilians who’ve never served a day in the service understand that there are certain expectations in the military regarding the behavior of its members.  Decorum and bearing are honored attributes in the military.  And good decision-making abilities are an absolutely essential attribute of the good noncommissioned officer.  By all appearances, decision-making doesn’t seem to be one of this idiot’s strong points.

Just about the only good attributes Bimbo Manhart has been displaying recently, it seems, are her boobs and her ass.
