Update 2: Someone else posted the video on Google again. We’ll see how long it lasts. I found it and saved it to my hard drive as an AVI for archival purposes just in case is goes “poof” again….
Update 1: Google video has killed the feed to “The Great Global Warming Swindle.” I don’t know why, but will try to find out. In the meantime, I found it on YouTube and linked to that…for the time being. Google owns YouTube now, so who knows how long it will last there. (I found the information about Google killing the feed in a post by Kathy at Hang Right Politics.)
Original post:
Yesterday Little Green Footballs posted a link to an outstanding documentary aired by Channel 4 of the United Kingdom. Called “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” the documentary takes a head-on look at the myth of global warming. Says the Channel 4 Web site:
Are you green? How many flights have you taken in the last year? Feeling guilty about all those unnecessary car journeys? Well, maybe there’s no need to feel bad.
According to a group of scientists brought together by documentary-maker Martin Durkin, if the planet is heating up, it isn’t your fault and there’s nothing you can do about it.
We’ve almost begun to take it for granted that climate change is a man-made phenomenon. But just as the environmental lobby think they’ve got our attention, a group of naysayers have emerged to slay the whole premise of global warming.
As you know, global warming theory claims that manmade greenhouse gasses—carbon dioxide in particular—are the primary cause behind a presumptive trend indicating a rise in global temperatures. The Channel 4 documentary admits that global average temperatures are rising. It also admits that there is, indeed, a correlation between the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels and the overall rise in global temperature. What it also shows, however (which is something environmental alarmists won’t tell you), is that the relationship between greenhouse gas levels and temperature levels is actually the inverse of what the alarmists want you to believe.
The Greenies want you to believe that temperatures are rising because of the increase in CO2.
The documentary shows us, however, that the opposite is true: The global rise in temperature causes increased CO2 levels—not the other way around.
The documentary is a long one–1 hour and 15 minutes to be exact–so grab a soft drink and a sandwich, sit back, and enjoy:
How precocious! How cute! How absolutely freakin’ spot-on!
And in closing this post, I’d like to point to a related article by United Press International:
Environmentalism is a religion that is based more on political ambitions than science, the president of the Czech Republic warned Friday.
Speaking at the Cato Institute, a public policy think-tank, President Vaclav Klaus said that environmentalists who clamor for policy change to combat global warming ‘only pretend’ to be promoting environmental protection, and are actually being driven by a political agenda.
‘Environmentalism should belong in the social sciences,’ much like the idea of communism or other ‘-isms’ such as feminism, Klaus said, adding that ‘environmentalism is a religion’ that seeks to reorganize the world order as well as social behavior and value systems worldwide.
As for government spending on global warming studies, the former finance minister of the Eastern European nation and trained economist said that such efforts were a ‘waste of money,’ adding that there was already sufficient scientific evidence for those seeking policy change to back up their proposals.
Much like the idea of communism or any other “ism”? I love it. Way to go, Vaclav!
For an interesting look at hypocrisy in the global warming camp, read this post at Blinkered Thinker.
And Sister Toldjah points to a New York Times article advising the global warming alarmists to chill out.

Ah, the truth about global warming… While the globe is warming, the evidence does suggest that the human contribution is not as significant as some people would have us believe. CO2 is increasing but is this a contributing factor? Correlations between sunspot activity and temperature data are hard to dismiss. I feel like I am surrounded by people who say the world is flat but don’t go look.
I’m with you, William. If you get the chance, watch the video I posted above. It agrees with you (and me).
