Here’s a pretty funny article from the Web site of NBC11 in San Jose:
Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn endorsed Dennis Kucinich for president in San Francisco Friday.
Penn made what had been billed as a “major political statement” at San Francisco State University.
Andy Juniewicz, National Press Secretary and senior advisor to Kucinich told NBC11 that Penn made the endorsement at an open-to-the-public event sponsored by The San Francisco State College Democrats.
The event was paid for by Kucinich for President 2008.
[…]
Penn was set to deliver “a blistering indictment of political leaders and an impassioned endorsement of Presidential proportions,” according to a Kucinich press release.
In the speech entitled, “Piano Wire Puppeteers,” Penn railed against not only President Bush, but Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.
Here’s one more gem from Penn’s impassioned endorsement of “Presidential proportions:
While I’m not a proponent of the Death Penalty, existing law provides that the likes of Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld and Rice, if found guilty, could have hoods thrown over their heads, their hands bound, facing a 12-man rifle corps executing death by firing squad. And our cowardly democratically dominated House and Senate can barely find one voice willing to propose so much as an impeachment. That one voice of a true American. That one voice of Congressman Dennis Kucinich.
Attaboy, Dennis. That’s the kind of endorsement you need if you want to be president. That’s right, go find the loosest cannon on deck and enlist him as a spokesman for your campaign.
Sheesh. You can read the entire text here. (Do it, it’s hilarious.)
But you have to give a little credit to the boys and girls in the Kucinich camp. Andy Juniewicz said of the Penn speech screed rant:
Penn and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich have been close friends for years, but the Kucinich campaign was not involved with Penn in preparing the remarks he planned to deliver today.
Translated into the language of normal people:
Damn. I knew we shouldn’t have let the bastard open his mouth.
At any rate, every time Penn delivers one of his blistering indictments, I’m left speechless for days….

Kucinich is my President. He alone speaks for me and what I amnd my riends are for. The corporately owned Replo-Demo Party represent only special interests and large corporations…as Nader said it is not suppose to be “of by and for the corporations” but “of by and for all the people.”
Thinking people are for Kucinich. He ought to be allowed to debate.

DETROIT, MI - Less than 44 hours after NBC sent a congratulatory note and
an invitation to Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich to participate in the
Jan. 15 Democratic Presidential debate in Las Vegas, the network notified
the campaign this morning it was changing its announced criteria,
rescinding its invitation, and excluding Kucinich from the debate.
NBC Political Director Chuck Todd notified the Kucinich campaign this
morning that, although Kucinich had met the qualification criteria
publicly announced on December 28, the network was “re-doing” the
criteria, excluding Kucinich, and planning to invite only Senators Hillary
Clinton and Barack Obama and former senator John Edwards.
The criteria announced last month included a fourth-place or better
showing in a national poll. The USA/Gallup poll earlier this month showed
Kucinich in fourth place among the Democratic contenders.
In an email to the Kucinich campaign at 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9,
Democratic Party debates consultant Jenny Backus wrote:
“Congratulations on another hard-fought contest. Now that New Hampshire is
over, we are on to Nevada and our Presidential Debate on Tuesday January
15. This letter serves as an official invitation for your candidate to
participate in the Nevada Presidential Debate at Cashman Theatre in
downtown Las Vegas. You have met the criteria set by NBC and the Debate.”
Todd notified the Kucinich campaign this morning that the network had
decided to change the criteria and limit participation in the debate to
only three candidates.
Kucinich is the ONLY remaining Democratic Presidential candidate who:
voted against the original Iraq War authorization in 2002 and every
war-funding measure since; voted against the so-called Patriot Act;
advocates a national, not-for-profit health system that covers all
Americans; has called for the repeal of NAFTA and withdrawal from the WTO;
and proposes a national back-to-work program (Works Green Administration)
patterned after the Depression-era Works Progress Administration (WPA).
The Kucinich campaign, which filed an emergency complaint with the Federal
Communications Commission last week because of ABC’s decision to exclude
the candidate from a nationally televised debate, is considering legal
action to address “the blatant disregard of the public interest in
silencing public debate that dissents with the views of NBC, its parent
company, GE, and all of the military contractors and their
candidate-funding corporate interests. Corporate control of the media is
one issue. Corporate media control of the information that is allowed to
reach American citizens is much more dangerous, much more sinister, and
much more un-American.”
“When ‘big media’ exert their unbridled control over what Americans can
see, hear, and read, then the Constitutional power and right of the
citizens to vote is being vetoed by multi-billion corporations that want
the votes to go their way,” the Kucinich campaign said.
NBC and MSNBC have made a corporate decision to exclude the one and only
voice who represents YOU and those things that the Democratic Party should
stand for!! If you are as outraged as we are, feel free to call:
NBC/MSNBC at 212 664-4444 and ask for the Comment Line
Also call NBC Studios in Los Angeles at 818 840 4444

PLEASE share this message with everyone you know so that the voice of the
people will be heard and their votes WILL be counted.
Strength through Peace,
The Kucinich Campaign
and . . . . .
You may already know that Texas was barring Dennis from running in their state because he refused to sign a loyalty oath to the Democratic party. It went to court and this is the result. . .
Gary Yokie just called me from Austin and said that we were shot down. An
appeal is a possibility, but the clock is running down and we’re just about
out of time.
Wish I had better news. This just means we have to work even harder.
Gretchen Leavitt
I am truly sorry there isn’t much good news today …

ELECTABLE??
“It is for us to determine what is electable. And here’s how simple it is: If we, those of us who truly believe in the Constitution of the United States of America, all of us, vote for Dennis Kucinich, he will be elected. Could we call him electable then?” SEAN PENN
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall elect Kucinich
