Apparently that’s the way they used to wish a Happy New Year back in the old (old, old) country.
So I think it wouldn’t take much for 2008 to be a better year than 2007—for a variety of reasons.
On the world stage we have wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; we have Hutus and Tutsis fighting each other amid famine and disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo and elsewhere; we have hundreds of thousands dying from slaughter, hunger, and sickness in Darfur; we have the ongoing pandemic of HIV/AIDS, especially in Africa; we have the seemingly never-ending scourge of global terror that kills thousands annually; and last but not least, we have a global climate which gets warmer and warmer each time Al Gore opens his mouth and releases another blast of hot air.
On a personal level, my brother Steve passed away.
Yeah, 2007 was a shitty year. It’s gotta get better, right?
I hope?
Anyway, salutations to all who seek truth, justice, fairness, peace, wisdom, prosperity, and democracy.
And to all of you who prefer close-mindedness, religious intolerance, ignorance, slavishness, violence, and fear I say this:
A pox on your camel; may she give you nothing but sour milk for a period of 15 moons.
Amen.
