Like most bloggers, I maintain a blogroll (on the steel blue sidebar in the case of No Man’s Blog). From time to time I subtract defunct links and add new ones for blogs that interest me. I also try to be religious about adding reciprocal links for good folks who are kind enough to link to me.
But that’s about all I did with it. I didn’t use my blogroll hyperlinx to go visit other sites because it took me away from my own blog. And I always wished that I could figure out a way to set it so it would open a new window (or browser tab) when someone–including yours truly–clicked on one of the links.
Well, D’OH!

In WordPress, you CAN do that. I had been too busy to check into all the options available in the “add link” tab of the blogroll maintenance area of the WordPress admin panel. I was in there this morning adding a link when I noticed a collapsible tab labeled “target.” So I opened that puppy up and–Lo And Behold!—the darn thing lets you set your HREF target property to “_blank”.
Wow.
So then I had to go set the target attribute for each and every one of my links to “_blank” manually, one by tedious one. This is because there is no way in WordPress to batch edit all of your blogroll links.
So D’OH! again….
