From Michelle Malkin, Mi blog es tu blog, and a variety of other sources on the Internet comes this gem of an advertisement for Absolut vodka that recently ran in the print version of the Mexican magazine Quién:

Note that the bint (she goes by the modest moniker “latinbeauty”) at Mi blog es tu blog seems breathlessly captivated by the ad:
In a perfect world, our loved ones wouldn’t die leaving us terribly saddened and alone. But in an ‘Absolut World,’ wonderful things can happen, including getting the U.S.-Mexico border straight once and for all. [Italics in original, bold face added by Moi.]
Judging by her blog’s URI her name is probably Laura Martinez, but who knows? And I suppose we should take it easy on the chick. Because she’s MEXICAN!!!!! We wouldn’t want to say anything negative about a Mexican, now would we? Besides, she’s apparently much smarter than we normal folk…since she proudly and repeatedly claims to be bilingual.
Yep, that’s right: she speaks Spanish, English, French and Bullshit-ese with equal fluency.
But wait! If she speaks Spanish, English, and French, wouldn’t that make her multilingual instead of bilingual? (Maybe she should check to see if there’s an expiration date on her diploma from La Escuela de Periodismo Carlos Septién García?)
However, I digress….
Malkin published the following contact information for the makers of Absolut:
Jeffrey Moran
Director of Public Relations and Events
The Absolut Spirits Company, Inc.
1370 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10019
USA
Phone, direct: +1 212 641 87 20
E-mail: jeffrey.moran@absolut.com
Accordingly, I sent the following E-mail this morning:
Mr. Moran,
Surely, sir, you and your beloved corporation are out of your minds.
The advertisement Abolut ran in the Mexican magazine Quién recently is deplorable. (Said advertisement is attached in .jpg form just in case your memory fails you.)
But I suppose you sit in your office at 1370 Avenue of the Americas and pledge your loyalty not to America, but to your six-figure income and to the balance sheet of Pernod Ricard, instead.
And I also suppose you will ultimately claim that the ad campaign was farmed out to a Mexican advertising firm and that you played no part in approving the release of the ad in Quién…that you had ‘Absolut-ly‘ no knowledge of it?
A very Obama-esque expedient if there ever was one.
I think you should move your office from New York City to Mexico City. It would be a fitting move.
Regards,
Wikipedia says the “largest export market [for Absolut] is the United States where close to 73 million liters were sold in 2003. More than 40% of the imported vodka in the United States is Absolut.”
Let’s hope that changes soon. I’ve never bought any of the swill in the past, and I damned sure won’t buy any now.

Don’t just boycott Absolut. The company that owns them, V&S, also sells Penfolds wines and other products. Check out their site.
The disgraceful marketing firm Teran/TBWA also does ads for Adidas, Pedigree DDog Food, Nextel, FujiFilm and others.
Absolut ely Not. No not ever again. Get with it, there are thousands of out here who will forgo happy hour to make a point.
