One Day At The Petraeus/Crocker Senate Hearings

Here’s a lucid comment made by Independent Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut at the Senate hearings yesterday:

What I’m about to say with respect to my colleagues who have consistently opposed our presence in Iraq, as I hear the questions and the statements today, it seems to me that there’s a kind of ‘hear no progress in Iraq,’ ‘see no progress in Iraq,’ and most of all ‘speak of no progress in Iraq’.

Sources: Dish Network, the Fox News Channel, my DVR remote control, and me.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator and presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton made a cameo appearance at the hearings.  It was quite the scene, really.  Good Senator Clinton tried to envelope herself in the cloak of a senior statesman as she questioned General David Petraeus, the top U.S. general in Iraq, and Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker.  (All the while she was quite obviously striving to shore up her street cred with the liberal left.)

Heh.  It would have been a nice touch if she had thought to perch some horn rim librarian glasses on the end of her nose to enhance the aura of gravitas.

No!  Wait!  She DID do the glasses thing!

Hillary At The Hearings

My bad.

And holy cow!  She looks really OLD when you see her up close like that!
