Persistent reports from Waziristan indicate that American forces may have new rules of engagement in Afghanistan.
Good. I think. We’ll have to see how all this washes out.
Interesting news from Radio Australia:
Pakistani officials say 12 people have been killed in a US missile strike in the country’s tribal area.
A Pakistani official from the North Waziristan district says the people were killed in a pre-dawn attack when a US unmanned aircraft fired a missile at a house.
It is the latest in a series of suspected US assaults on militant targets in Pakistan.
Yesterday, the Pakistani prime minister said the cross-border attacks were a threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty, and the army could take all steps to defend the country’s borders.
Today’s missile strike follows news that US President George W Bush secretly approved the cross-border strategy in July.
Pakistan has been criticized for not doing enough to prevent Taliban and al-Qaeda militants using the country as a safe haven.
Well, maybe the Taliban and al-Qaeda won’t be so cocksure now that they know we’ll follow their murderous asses across the border into Pakistan.

Now we’ll just have to wait and see how the Pakistani government responds to this “threat to their sovereignty.”
