Conservative Base Fighting Back…Against John McCain
So John McCain and Sarah Palin had a joint townhall meeting in Waukesha, Wisconsin yesterday. At that meeting, they met a few disgruntled conservatives. Like this man:
Yeah. Right off the bat the gentleman lets McCain know that he’s mad about the socialists taking over this country. There was a subtext, of course. What the gentleman didn’t say out loud was the fact that he’s mad a McCain 1) for voting “aye” on the bailout bill and 2) for proposing a $300 billion taxpayer-funded buyout of bad mortgages. The conservative base views these sorts of behaviors as socialism, naturally, and McCain knows it. The man also mentioned Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi (and by implication Barney Frank and Chris Dodd). I think McCain probably understood that the man was silently indicting the current Republican candidate for president, as well. Pretty funny stuff.
Also at the townhall event was this gentleman:
“I have to tell you. I doubt there’s anyone in this room that’s taken the, pardon me, the ass-whuppin’ I’ve taken for supporting you…and for your causes,” the man said.
He’s right. He’s an African-American who’s not supporting Barack Obama. He has balls, which McCain apparently does not have.
“I am begging you, sir. I am begging you. Take it to him,” the frustrated man said.
McCain won’t. McCain can’t. McCain doesn’t have it in him. McCain won’t even let Sarah Palin mention William Ayers when they have a joint appearance.
